Cyborg Dreamcatcher

A collaborative project with Rosa Weinberg. Rosie created custom wearable art for my pregnant belly. A visual animation of my unborn babies’ heartbeat was projected on my belly. This work is about the perception of a woman’s body as a passive vessel for her unborn child, the medical community’s invasive collection of data and charting of the fetus’ progress, and the optimistic imagining of what the unborn baby is thinking, dreaming, doing at any given moment as it grew inside my belly.

The custom art created by Weinberg was later hung over the baby’s crib like a Dreamcatcher votive.
