Best new Squarespace templates for fine artists in 2025

Squarespace is the best website platform for fine artists. Squarespace has everything you need out-of-the-box including contemporary templates, mobile-friendly designs, security, basic analytics, basic SEO, and more. I have been using it myself for almost 10 years, and I have made many websites for fine artists on Squarespace. There are other website platforms that can also work well for artists, but in my opinion, Squarespace is the best because of its design, user experience, service options and (perhaps most importantly) ease of use. Squarespace’s Fluid Engine editor is a “drag and drop” WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that makes it easy to create and edit templates into a website that serves your unique artist needs.

FYI all links to Squarespace are affiliate links.

So maybe you’ve already decided that you like Squarespace, and you want to use it for your artist website, but there are SO MANY templates, and you’d like some help from a website expert to narrow down which templates are best for artists. I got you! I’m a multi-disciplinary artist and seasoned website producer. Below you will find my favorite new Squarespace templates for fine artists with some tips and recommendations on updating each template so it works for you.

In my experience, most Squarespace template recommendations for “artists” are actually recommendations for photographers or designers - people doing more commercial creative work. My recommendations below are for fine artists in any media who want a professional portfolio where people can view their work, and the focus is on the artwork, not a flashy website design (and definitely not Flash!). I also understand that most artists do more than just make art. Let’s be honest - art does NOT always pay the bills so we often have day jobs or freelance work as well. More on this in a future post, but know that it’s okay to add info about your day job to your artist website especially if it’s related to your art. It really just depends what your goals are. For multi-disciplinary artists or artists with a “hard to define” practice, I feel your pain when it comes to your website - keep an eye out for more specific recommendations for you.

The best new Squarespace templates for fine artists

These are newer templates that Squarespace came out with in 2024 and 2025. Some of my template recommendations below are not typically marketed to artists, but I think they work well for fine artists who need a professional portfolio. You will just need to add a portfolio or gallery page.

KEO website template

KEO

Keo is a new template from Squarespace that I LOVE for emerging artists who need a clean, professional look, but maybe are not sure what to put on their website yet. Honestly, it’s a good foundation for any artist though. My favorite part: the work page is a list of projects that then link to a page of large images and a text description below each image and a title and text description at the top of the page. This is an ideal project page layout that works for a lot of artists and is simple to update with your own work. My least favorite part: the image hovering over the project title on the Work page. It’s fine for desktop, but it’s wonky and confusing on mobile so I would rather remove the hovering image and instead put a small thumbnail image in front of the project title. Actually, it’s kind of wonky in general and may confuse users.

GILDEN website template

Gilden

Gilden looks like it’s made for a content creator or photographer. I think it is also a really great format for a homepage for a fine artist. For this template, you’ll need to add a Gallery page. I also recommend adding a Contact page. And of course keep the About page and please add more than one sentence as shown in the demo. You can always add more pages, but this is a solid foundation for a professional artist website who wants a fresh, contemporary vibe.

SELENE website template

Selene

For a more mature website design, I recommend Selene. This template has a simple, professional look that plays nicely with project-based work. If you’re a conceptual, installation or performance artist, I like this template for a unique, stylish yet simple layout of photos and text. There are places for descriptions of your art, and a good format for linking to a project page with more details as well. On the homepage, swap out “Elevated Spatial Design” for your name and studio (i.e. CHRISTINA BALCH STUDIO) or a tagline or a few words about your work (i.e. ARTIST MOTHER or EXPLORING HUMANITY + TECH)

REFLECT website template

Reflect

Reflect is the result of Squarespace’s partnership with Jeff Koons. While I don’t recommend this template for most artists, it may work well for certain types of artists. This template works great for Jeff Koons because it allows for TONS of work to be displayed in an organized way. Most artists 1) do not need to show ALL the work they’ve ever done because it is content overload for viewers, 2) do not have time to organize and optimize imagery and content for ALL the work they’ve ever done, and 3) probably don’t want the Koons-inspired homepage which is a little much. This template can work well for established artists who have a lot of work that is already fairly organized AND have an assistant or content manager to help them organize and prepare all the imagery and content for the website. Mostly though, I generally don’t recommend this gallery template for most artists because it’s overkill and would take months to organize all the content for it. I wish Squarespace would partner with a midcareer or emerging artist for a more helpful website example for most of us artists DIYing our own website. (sigh)
